How to make 3D in Figma
Figma is a 2D tool, so real 3D comes from a plugin or from images made elsewhere. The fastest route is a plugin that imports a 3D model or turns a vector layer into 3D and returns a render.
- Runs in your browser
- Files never uploaded

Three ways to do it
- Plugin: install MeshShot, import a model and place a render on your frame.
- 3D text and logos: select a vector layer or type text in the plugin and get solid 3D lettering you can light and rotate.
- Import an image: render in another tool, export a PNG with a transparent background and drop it into Figma.
Faking depth with shadows and gradients works for small icons, but it breaks down for products and lettering that need real lighting from several angles. A real 3D object gives you consistent shading on every side.
Good to know: Keep one light direction across the whole design so 3D elements match the flat ones.
Questions
Do I need to model anything myself?
No. You can use a ready 3D model, 3D text or a logo converted from a vector layer.
Can I animate it?
Yes. With Pro you can export a GIF or video and use it in a prototype.
