How to import a GLB into Figma
Figma cannot open 3D files natively. Install the MeshShot plugin, import your GLB, and drop a snapshot or animation onto your frame.
- Runs in your browser
- Files never uploaded
- Free to start
How to do it
- Install MeshShot: 3D to Figma from Figma Community.
- Run it from Plugins in any design file and import your
.glb,.objor.fbx. - Frame the model and set the lighting.
- Place a still on the canvas, or a GIF or video if you have Pro.
Figma has no built-in way to display a 3D file, so the usual workaround is to render an image elsewhere and import it. The plugin skips that round trip and keeps the 3D scene editable next to your design.
Good to know: Heavy models run better in the web app, which uses the whole browser window instead of a plugin panel.
