What is an FBX file?

FBX is a proprietary 3D format owned by Autodesk. It can store models, textures and animation, and is common in game and animation work. Most people cannot open one without 3D software.

  • Runs in your browser
  • Files never uploaded
  • Free to start

How to do it

  1. Open the MeshShot web app.
  2. Drop in the .fbx.
  3. Export a GIF or video so anyone can see it.

Because FBX is closed and heavy, it is rarely what you want to send to a client or post on a product page. Converting to a short clip or a GLB is usually the more useful form.

Good to know: If textures are missing, export the FBX with embedded media or send the texture images alongside it.

Questions

Can I convert FBX to GLB?

Yes. Import the FBX and use the model download in Pro to export a GLB.

Is FBX free to use?

Opening files is fine, but the format itself belongs to Autodesk.
